چکیده

The transportation sector is the largest contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions. Disruptive technological changes in this sector, such as alternative fuel vehicles, are crucial for emission reduction. We show how a cost-minimizing strategic transition plan adopt electric trucks over time can be developed firm that owns and operates fleet of diesel trucks. consider case which decides invest charging infrastructure required support transition, either because public currently inadequate or reasons. congestion effect at stations, times, potential loss productive driving due detours reach stations explicitly considered. By developing an independence property, we able model problem linear integer program without specifying origins destinations. illustrate resulting with realistic parameter configurations. Our results indicate high demand density given service region significantly benefits from adoption trucks, while also enjoying substantial carbon emissions savings. High favors smaller battery capacity shorter ranges under optimized network capacity, even though larger would increase productivity extended ranges. analysis offers insights governments regulators regarding impact several influential factors cost, content renewable energy electricity mix, engine efficiency, subsidizing infrastructure. Additionally, present extension allows different modalities partnership investment; notably public-private private-private partnerships. While general our suggest partnerships beneficial all involved, amount relative distribution gains depend on topography

Operations of a Shared, Autonomous, Electric Vehicle Fleet: Implications of Vehicle & Charging Infrastructure Decisions

The nexus of autonomous vehicle (AV) and electric vehicle (EV) technologies has important potential impacts on our transportation systems, particularly in the case of shared-use vehicles. There are natural synergies between shared AV fleets and EV technology, since fleets of AVs resolve the practical limitations of today’s non-autonomous EVs, including traveler range anxiety, access to charging...

Integrating passenger and freight transportation: Model formulation and insights

Integrating passenger and freight flows creates attractive business opportunities because the same transportation needs can be met with fewer vehicles and emissions. This paper seeks an integrated solution for the transportation of passenger and freight simultaneously, so that fewer vehicles are required. The newly introduced problem concerns scheduling a set of vehicles to serve the requests s...

Integrating Routing Decisions in Public Transportation Problems

Let's read! We will often find out this sentence everywhere. When still being a kid, mom used to order us to always read, so did the teacher. Some books are fully read in a week and we need the obligation to support reading. What about now? Do you still love reading? Is reading only for you who have obligation? Absolutely not! We here offer you a new book enPDFd integrating routing decisions in...

Intermodal Freight Transportation

The 21st century will see a renewed focus on intermodal freight transportation driven by the changing requirements of global supply chains. Each of the transportation modes (air, inland water, ocean, pipeline, rail, and road) has gone through technological evolution and has functioned separately under a modally based regulatory structure for most of the 20th century. With the development of con...
